1 YEAR OLD!!

Holy cow I can not believe it has been a year already. Time sure does fly by. When Ryken was first born I remember everyone always saying enjoy them while they are little cause it goes by way to fast. I can totally agree with that now. Ryken truly is the reason I smile every day. He brings so much joy to me. ( And sometimes frustration too. :) ) I really can't get enough of him. And like I have said before when I see him smile and giggle at me I can't help but join him in doing the same. He really has grown up so much. I use to think to myself will he ever fit in to these little clothes, will he ever learn how to do this... And now he wears clothes that would fit some 18 month olds. And he has learned so many new and fun things thru this past year. But mostly in the past few months. And learns some new things every day.

I do know that he has taught me so much. And I think one of the best things is he has taught me to have a little more patience. And believe me I need it some days with him. :) There are some days when I get so upset with myself because I think that I am not a good mother. And when that happens it seems like he knows it. And just loves me even more that day. I truly LOVE being his mommy!

Here are a few things bout our little guy...

He weighs in at 23 pounds 4 ounces
He is 29 1/2 inches long
He loves his doggy Pooka (she isn't to fond of him yet. :) )
He hasn't really learned to walk yet but I am sure its coming soon. He has taken lots of steps.
He loves to eat, haven't really found something he doesn't like to eat.
He loves being chased by his daddy.
He has quite the screaming voice.
He still hates wearing shoes.
He enjoys getting his 4 teeth brushed.
He loves his daddy and his mommy so much. :)

A few firsts for him the past few days...

He had his first real kiddy meal. Kinda.. he didn't eat all of the cheese crisp but he liked the churro. Bad I know. :)
He drank his first bottle of real milk tonight.
He had his first birthday party. :)
Oh and he had his first kiss from a girl other then his mom and grandmas. :) (Thanks Brylee Jensen! :) )
His first dunk on the basketball hoop.

Our little man is getting to be such a big boy and we love it but there is a part of me that misses the times when he could just curl up and fall asleep on mommy chest. And when he wasn't mobile and would just lay there instead of follow me all over the house. But I wouldn't change any of this past year. It has been so fun and exciting and I am sure life will just get better and more interesting thru the years. :) Thanks Ryken for being the cutest, funnest, and most lovable 1 year old boy ever! Mommy and Daddy love you!

1st Birthday Party!

On Saturday we sure had a lot of fun at the Buchberger house! We had some family and friends over for a birthday party for Ryken. So there is going to be alot of pics in this post. :) His birthday isn't until Tuesday so we decided to celebrate on Saturday so that all of his Grandparents could come. And lots of his aunts, uncles and cousins and his friend too. :) Ryken had a good time but he had his moments where it wasn't much fun for him. But I think my nieces and nephews had a good time. We were able to borrow a blow up slide/pool from our neighbor/friends. And let me tell you it was the biggest hit with the kids and even the older guys gave it a try too.
We had gotten a slip and slide for the big kids to play with but this was much funner for them. So thanks Crisps for letting us borrow it for the party. We also had gotten a little kiddie pool for Ryken. And of course that was one of the things that he didn't like. We didn't really put much water in it but what we did he did not like. Plus he had just woke up from his nap and me being the mean mom I am put him in the pool.

This is his reaction to the water right after he wakes up. I am so mean right? But once he had settled in and had some fun with the cousins and also was able to get a little sugar in him from the cake and open his presents he was ready for another time in the water. First daddy tried out the big pool. He was okay with that but not his favorite. So next best thing was the pool that was just his size. This time he liked it. He was splashing away like he was in his own big bathtub. Of course he did enjoy having daddy there to splash around with.

He got lots of presents. Some cool books, some nice clothes and some really fun toys. He got this really cool little people police car. It was so cool that everyone wanted to get it for him. He ended up with 3 of them. :) But thats okay with us. He is going to have so much fun with all his new stuff.

But of course the tissue paper was a major hit for him. He couldn't get enough of it. And also the strings on the bags. :) We were getting him to clap for all of the fun stuff he ended up with. Thanks everyone for the great gifts. :)

After presents we were off to have some cake and icecream. And lets just say that our little guy is not so into making a mess all the time. And so I was wondering how he would do with digging in to his piece of cake.
He just sat there looking at us like what do you want me to do with this? So daddy helped him out a little bit and gave him a bit and then it was all him...And this is what we ended up with. Not really sure he ate any of it. Just smeared it all over himself and the chair. But he was nice enough to share with us. First he gave some to daddy. Or better yet smeared it on his face too. Then..He gave mommy a bit too. He is such a funny little boy sometimes. We had a great time with everyone. Thanks again everyone who was able to come out and celebrate with us and for all the help from you guys too. You all are the greatest! And we LOVE YOU ALL! Oh and guess what... There will be another post in a few days when his actual big day has arrived. :) Well whenever I get around to doing it. :)

Best Daddy

I know its not Father's Day yet but I just wanted to get a little head start. Ryken has one of the best dads that I know. Justin had never really been around babies much. So when we found out we were going to have one of our own I was kinda nervous about how he would react to having one that we would have to take care of. But the minute I saw Justin with Ryken after he was born all of those feelings were gone. He just became a DAD, and it was like he was always ment to be one. I truly couldn't ask for a better daddy for Ryken and I know Ryken feels the same way. He loves his daddy so much. He already gets excited when Justin gets home in the mornings from work. I can't wait for the day when he just yells "Daddy" when Justin gets home. Seeing the two of them together brings a smile to my face. And when they just laugh together I can't help but join in. I know that as the years go by Justin is going to be able to teach Ryken and our other kids so many things and is just going to grow so much more as a Father. And have some great kids looking up to him. Thanks Justin for being such a great dad to Ryken and always making him smile. WE LOVE YOU!

And of course another one of the best dads that I know is my own dad. I couldn't ask for a better dad. And of course I am daddy's little girl. ( Well what do you expect I am his only daughter. :) ) He has always been there for me and I know he will continue to be there. He is always willing to sit and listen to me whatever it is I may be complaining about. And always has the best advice for me. I am truly blessed. And he is one of the best Grandpa's too. And I am so glad that Ryken has started getting use to him but I am not sure that he will ever get use to his mustache. :) Thank you dad for being you and always being there for me and my brothers. You really are one of the best dads! I LOVE YOU!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!

Happy Birthday to ME!

Yep, I had another birthday! So now I am the big 25! I know old right? It seems like it to me. But I am sure it will pass. :) But all I can say is that I had a great birthday this year. Thanks to my husband, my son, my parents and some great friends. My birthday was on Saturday and Justin usually works be actually had it off since he has some extra training to go to this week. So it worked out great. We decided that we were going to try to go out that night and have some fun. And my parents were nice enough to come down and watch Ryken for us. ( They truly are the best) Our friends Gina and Kameron Lee were able to find a sitter for their little guy too so we were able to celebrate with them. And we had lots of fun! We met up with them in Mesa and then were off to go to one of my favorite restraunts, Oreganos. It is always really busy there but oh so yummy! And of course there really aren't any close to us but we made the trip anyways. We had some good food and some great company with Gina and Kameron. And since it was my birthday I got a free Pazookie. And boy did we all enjoy it.

We were going to go Goofy Golfing or I guess as others would call it Miniture Golfing. But it was of course still hot outside so instead we went Bowling. We haven't been bowling in a long time and so it was lot of fun for us. Of course Justin, Gina and I had on flip flops so we needed some socks. So we headed to Target before our bowling fun and got ourselves some socks.

Here is Gina and I showing off our cool socks that we found in the dollar section at Target. Justin got a pair too but he just got some boring ones. :) So after it was all said and done we had such a great time with the Lee's that night and hope we can do it again. Even if we have to bring our little guys with. :)

Oh and Justin got me one of my favorite things.. An Icecream cake! Gina and Kameron weren't able to come over to have any so now we are left to eat it ourselves. OH well right. :) And so after a fun filled day with family and friends I was able to seal it off with a kiss from my wonderful husband! :)
